With the only guidance being to include the word ‘leap’ and to incorporate a musical component, the creative range was broad. I started with the idea of an “open road.”

 

The theme was ‘leap of faith’ and I consider the future to be just that. Since we’re graduating at the end of this semester, it seems a leap of faith into our future is fitting. At the same time, we have an open road of opportunities ahead of us. Above the ‘open road’, I wanted to put clouds because ‘the sky is the limit’ and that ties into the theme.

 

My next step was to add the relevant information, being the event and the dates. Above that, I incorporated ‘leap’ and added ‘into the future’ with an arrow pointing up because ‘life is a roller coaster that only goes up’. I then added the musical component being a girl playing the piano and music escaping it. Other things seemed unrepresented, so I added an artist painting a canvas and a video camera.

 

Each component has a pop of orange, which is also the colour of the letters for ‘leap’. I chose orange to be the complimenting colour on not only the poster but the entire website. The reason being the colour orange represents not only creativity, joy, determination and freedom, but above all, change. This leap of faith we are taking into our future is a big change for most of us.
